Uniting Florida's Co-op Communities:
Elevate Your Board Expertise and Connect with Peers for a Thriving Cooperative Future
As the industry association that champions resident-owned community cooperatives throughout Florida, the Florida Co-op Association is committed to establishing a platform where Board Members can deepen their understanding of contemporary issues impacting their fiduciary duties within their communities. This platform also facilitates valuable networking opportunities with peers from other cooperatives and provides access to specialists well-versed in Florida Statutes 719 and 723. We take pride in delivering a forum that not only enriches knowledge but also offers an engaging experience, blending education with enjoyment for all participants.

Quarterly Gatherings: Enhance Your Co-op Role with Fine Dining, Insightful Talks, and Peer Connections
Why Join
Why Join The Florida Co-op Association?
The Florida Co-op Association hosts quarterly regional events that offer an engaging blend of fine dining, captivating entertainment, insightful guest speakers, and valuable networking opportunities. We encourage Board Members to bring their spouse or partner to share in the full experience of their role. At these events, Board Members have the chance to meet and build relationships with professionals who specialize in Florida cooperatives, as well as connect with Board Members from other co-ops, enriching their perspective and knowledge.
The Florida Co-op Association distinguishes itself from other industry entities in Florida with its specialized attention on resident-owned communities, which have traditionally received less support in a sector dominated by organizations serving condominiums, HOAs, and community association managers.
Our association specifically targets Co-op Board Members' daily challenges, recognizing that Florida Cooperatives — not-for-profit entities formed for shareholders in manufactured home communities — have distinct governance needs such as:
-
Addressing the absence of support for Co-ops within the industry
-
Assisting Board Members with daily governance issues in not-for-profit shareholder communities
-
Managing cultural differences between resident shareholders and renters
-
Clarifying and enforcing Governing Documents, Florida Statute 719, and Florida Statute 723
-
Balancing the Co-op's financial health against residents' desires for low fees
-
Navigating rising fixed costs, such as insurance
-
Planning for long-term capital improvements and reserve funding
Our goal is to ensure Board Members are adeptly equipped for effective co-op governance and community support.
